Wraparound Hawley

The wraparound retainer is a Hawley with a .036 wire that extends to the most posterior teeth for circumferential retention, so the teeth can settle.

Wraparound Hawley

A support wire in the bicuspid area maintains vertical support, and full palatal acrylic coverage is standard. The wire runs around the arch instead of crossing at the cuspids, so the teeth settle into position after treatment. Compare it with the labial bow soldered to Adams clasps, the other circumferential design.
