Distalization.

Fixed and removable distalization appliances, made to your Rx.

Fixed, removable or skeletally anchored.

Our distalization range runs from fixed upper distalizers to a removable plate. Most are anchored on a Nance button, premolar rests or bands, while the Horseshoe Jet takes pure skeletal anchorage from two anterior TADs and the Sagittal works in either arch.

  • Every fixed distalizer available 3D printed
  • OnBRACE® anchorage available on every fixed design
  • Unilateral or bilateral distalization with the Distal Jet
Pendex

What does distalization solve?

Distalization recovers arch length by moving molars back, so a Class II molar relationship or a crowded upper arch can be corrected without extraction. Several designs also widen a narrow upper arch while they work.

  • Class II molar relationship without headgear or elastics
  • Space lost to mesial molar drift
  • Room for blocked-out upper canines
  • Narrow upper arch with Class II molars

FAQ

Questions about distalization.

If premolar anchorage loss is a concern, prescribe the Horseshoe Jet. It anchors on two anterior TADs, so there’s no dental or palatal vault support to lose, and it still applies force close to the molars’ center of resistance.

The Pendex and T-Rex expand while they distalize, and the T-Rex gives more expansion at the molars. The MDA (12 mm screw) and PHD (8 mm screw) finish expansion before distalization starts. Expansion can also be added to the Distal Jet and the Rapid Molar Distalizer on request.

The Distal Jet converts to a Nance-style holder, and the Horseshoe Jet locks to work as a Nance holding appliance. You can also prescribe an Upper Nance Appliance from our habit and holding range.

On the Pendulum and Pendex, distalize fully erupted second molars first for the most efficient molar movement. The Rapid Molar Distalizer anchors to the second molars and second bicuspids once the second molars have fully erupted.

Pendulum, Pendex and T-Rex springs come preactivated from the lab, and the Distal Jet uses adjustable coil springs you can swap during treatment. The RMD’s buccal screws are turned twice a week, and the MDA and PHD have laser-welded sheaths so you can reactivate them for more distalization.

Yes. The Sagittal is a removable acrylic plate for either arch that distalizes the posterior segments against the anterior teeth, with Adams and ball clasps and occlusal acrylic for retention. It relies on the patient wearing it.
