Upper Mini

The Upper Mini is a mini expander built on our Mini-Palex screw: half the size of a traditional screw, with 8 to 12 mm of expansion.

Expansion

Upper Mini

We designed the Mini-Palex with two major screw manufacturers. The first molars are typically used for anchorage, with .040 support arms extending to the first bicuspids. The smaller screw body takes up less of the palate, which suits a narrow or shallow vault.

Use it when
Transverse deficiency in a young patient
Narrow or shallow palates with little room for a screw
Posterior crossbite in the primary or mixed dentition
Patients who struggle with bulky palatal hardware
Consider another appliance when
You want palatal acrylic to share the expansion load See Haas
You want slow expansion activated chairside See Upper Quad Helix
You'd rather bond the expander than band it See DeLuke Contoured Expander

Suture maturity, tooth-borne or tissue-borne, banded or bonded, and whether the patient's parents can manage screw turns. Those narrow the choice quickly.
