Pendulum
The Pendulum appliance distalizes the upper molars from a Nance button anchored on occlusal rests at the first and second premolars, with springs preactivated in the lab.
Distalization
Pendulum
We preactivate the springs in the lab, which makes insertion easier. With fully erupted second molars, distalize those first, because it makes the molar movement more efficient. When the arch also needs width, the Pendex adds an expansion screw to the same design.

When it’s the right call.
Use it when
Upper molar distalization with no expansion needed
Class II molar relationship without headgear or elastics
Space needed for blocked-out upper canines
Cases where you want springs ready to seat
Consider another appliance when
The arch also needs transverse expansion

Questions about the Pendulum.
Pendulum vs Pendex: which should I prescribe?
Prescribe the Pendulum when you only need molar distalization. The Pendex adds an expansion screw for transverse expansion at the same time.
How is the pendulum appliance anchored?
On a Nance button with occlusal rests on the first and second premolars.
Are the Pendulum springs preactivated?
Yes. We preactivate them in the lab, so insertion is easier.
Should I distalize the second molars first?
If they're fully erupted, yes. Distalizing them first makes the molar movement more efficient.
